The return of the exclamation point.

epicartsentertainment:

Ladies and gentleman, let it be known that an item marked for punctuation has never made me happier in my life(!).

For those who are unaware, the past week has brought about some shocking news in Fueled By Ramen-land. That’s right. Ryan Ross does coke. (Why is anyone shocked?) But more importantly, he and Jon Walker have left Panic(!) At The Disco. Never fear, they wasted no time in forming their own band - Hillside Session which currently only has a cover song playing in its Myspace player.

I know most people are devastated with this, as clearly, Ryan Ross was in charge of Panic(!) At The Disco’s lyrics, but if we’re being real here, we’d realize his lyrics weren’t the most spectacular works of art, anyhow.

With the departure of two of the members (or, half the band, if you’re into math), comes the rebirth of something I don’t know how I’ve lived without - the exclamation point in their band name. That’s Right. Beatles-esque, Pretty. Odd. Panic At The Disco is back to its pop-rock, electronic, pseudo-steampunk, what-the-fuck-genre-were-they-anyhow, punctuated glory.

And speaking of glory, Panic! At The Disco surviving members, Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith have gifted us with a clip of a demo from the new music they’ve been working on, ironically titled “Oh Glory”, via their website panicatthedisco.com I wish punctuation were permitted in web-addresses. I’d like to visit panicatthedisco!com.

The soundbite posted may be brief, but it gives us a glimpse into the sound they’re working with for their new release, and I have to admit - while the demo is only a low-to-moderate taste of what is to come - I am way more stoked for this than I was their last album. As I stated previously via the social monstrosity that is Twitter, I’m into the new sound because it’s my favorite kind of danceable suckfest. And before you go getting all offended, all I mean is that while the music may not be of the highest caliber in the industry - your butt is still shaking to it. And that is what I’m into. None of this I-have-to-be-stoned-out-of-my-head-to-enjoy-this-album bull this time around. Personally, I can’t wait.

Welcome back, Panic! At The Disco. I have missed your crap.
